Brandon Satinsky, a PhD student working with Dr. Mary Ann Moran recently published a paper in PNAS titled "Microspatial gene expression patterns in the Amazon River Plume".

Sylvia Schaefer successfully defended her Ph.D. research on the sources and fate of coastal nitrogen on June 23. Dr. Schaefer’s talk was entitled “Controls on Nitrogen Inputs, Loads, and In-Stream Concentrations in the Altamaha River, Georgia, and Beyond.” 

The department was well represented at this year’s Gordon Conference on Marine Microbes. Graduate students Brandon Satinsky and Bryndan Durham presented posters on their Ph.D.
