Earlier this year, Patricia Medeiros and Renato Castelao were funded by NSF to investigate carbon export in high latitude waters in the Southern Ocean. Now, Castelao and Medeiros have just been funded by NASA to investigate cross-shelf exchange in a high latitude region in the northern hemisphere off Greenland. The hope is that contrasting processes in different environments will provide insights on mechanisms driving cross-shelf exchange and export in the coastal ocean.
