Assistant Professor I am an ecosystem ecologist most interested in how food web change alters the function of marine ecosystems. I use a combination of remote sensing, stable isotope analysis, and mathematical modeling to quantify the functional role of marine organisms in mediating energy flow, biogeochemical cycles, and community structure. My research group works in a broad range of habitats from saltmarshes to the coastal ocean and uses a wide variety of tools and techniques from boots and buckets to drones and high-powered computers. You can find a list of our current projects on our lab website (nelsonecolab.net).
