Marine Sciences doctoral student Bryndan Durham discovered two previously unknown organic sulfur compounds that are released by diatoms into seawater and rapidly scavenged by nearby bacteria. Her research, with major professor Dr. Mary Ann Moran, was recently published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (see link).
