Image: Meg was selected to participate in the 2015 Leadership UGA program! In order to be selected, Meg was nominated by the Department of Marine Sciences and by the Assistant to the Dean in Franklin College. She had to fill out an online application with an essay portion, and had a group interview. Kudos to Meg! Leadership UGA, established in 1985, is a unique program that provides an opportunity to interact with each other and other prominent community leaders, and to become more aware of the social issues facing our campus, community, state, nation, and world. Through participation in Leadership UGA, students will also have a better understanding of their values, a commitment to serving their community, and an understanding of one’s self and others. The program emphasizes community, integrity, active citizenship, justice, life-long learning, multiculturalism, responsibility, and collaboration. The program includes discussions on campus as well as a Bus Tour of Georgia in which we will go down to the coast, stopping along the way to talk to community leaders.
